History
The origin of Armor Investment Advisors is a story of entrepreneurial spark, dogged persistence, & an unwavering commitment to take care of clients like family.
It was back in 2005 when Walt Sheffield, having a wealth of experience in law, trusts, benefits, and finance, saw an opportunity to do things differently.
Frustrated with the profit-driven approaches of traditional firms, he set out to create Armor Investment Advisors, a beacon of client-centricity in a sea of sales-driven models.
From the outset, Walt's focus wasn't just on making money but on making a meaningful difference in the lives of his clients. He believed they deserved more than just transactions; they deserved relationships built on trust, understanding, and genuine care.
As Armor Investment Advisors grew, Walt sought partners who shared his vision-individuals who believed in the power of personalized service and long-term relationships.
Enter Jeff Miller, a former colleague of Walt’s at Atlantic Capital, who took on the role of Chief Investment Officer. Jeff’s expertise allowed him to implement professional money management best practices, so Walt could focus on solving complex planning strategies to meet each client's unique goals and aspirations.
But it wasn't just about investments. Walt also brought on John Purrington, whose prowess in technology and operations ensured that every interaction with the firm was seamless and efficient. From the first phone call to the review meetings, clients experienced a level of service that exceeded their expectations.
Together, Walt, Jeff, and John built more than just a business; they built a community and reputation as a trusted advisor. A community where clients felt heard, valued, and supported every step of the way. Whether navigating market fluctuations, planning for retirement, or simply providing a listening ear, Armor Investment Advisors was there, putting clients at the center of everything they did.
Since Walt and Jeff’s retirement, Armor Investment Advisors has successfully navigated succession planning by fostering the seamless transition of leadership while still maintaining the core values and principles of the firm. This approach has been instrumental in building long-term, multigenerational relationships with our clients.

While neither we nor anyone can promise superior investment returns, we will provide impartial advice.
We will not mislead clients. We will provide full and fair disclosure of all important facts, including our compensation from all sources, as well as fees we pay to others on your behalf.
We will avoid conflicts of interest. We will fully disclose and fairly manage in the client’s favor, unavoidable conflicts.
